A blog to commemorate the first Annual USC School of Law Incoming Student Service Day, August 21, 2009. This is a joint project of the Office of Student Affairs & Admissions, the Student Bar Association, and the Pro Bono Program.
I want to thank you and all the students ( and Dean Wilcox!) who came out to Birchwood High School Friday. We really needed some help in getting our Carolina Fence Garden planted and organized.
As much I appreciate their hard work in such heat & humidity, I really appreciate the opportunity my students had in working with the USC students. My students are all in Service Learning, an elective class, and were surprised to find out that sometimes people just volunteer for community service! That's not been their experience, so it gave us something extra to discuss today.
Again, thank you very much and huge thanks to the Pro Bono volunteers.
